Men’s & Youths’ Civilian Clothing and Boys’ Civilian Clothing (in respect of which Purchase Tax is Chargeable) of the following Descriptions:
Jacket (excluding blouse type and blazer unlined or saddle lined).
Not to be double breasted. Not to have:
- more than three pockets.
- more than three buttons.
- metal or leather buttons.
- slits, cuffs or buttons on the sleeves.
- half belt.
- fancy back.
- slide fastener [zipper]
- patch pocket.
- raised seams.
Blazer (unlined or saddle lined).
Not to be double-breasted. Not to have:
- more than three pockets.
- more than three buttons.
- metal or leather buttons.
- slits, cuffs, or buttons on the sleeves.
- half belt.
- fancy back.
- slide fastener [zipper].
Waistcoat.
Not to be double-breasted. Not to have:
- more than two pockets.
- more than five buttons.
- collar.
- back strap.
- chain hole.
- raised seams.
- slide fastener [zipper].
Trousers.
To have plain trouser bottoms with a maximum width (circumference) of 19 ins. at the bottom. Not to have:
- more than three pockets.
- pocket flaps.
- permanent turn-ups.
- leather trouser bottoms.
- pleats.
- side straps or back strap.
- self-belt.
- extension waistband.
- elastic in waistband [rubber was scarce and needed for the war effort].
- rubber or fabric device (other than belt loops) in trousers for maintaining them in position.
- raised seams.
- slide fastener [zipper].
