It’s over!
January 24, 2011
One year of Fashion on the Ration ended on Saturday!
It’s been an interesting and informative year. If you’re hungry for more FOTR action, go see Ali at The Wardrobe, Reimagined, who’s taken up the torch. Can’t wait to see what she comes up with in her year shopping and sewing on the ration.
Meanwhile, Imma go buy me some SOCKS!

Spot on with this write-up, I honestly feel this site needs much more attention. I’ll probably be returning to see more, thanks for the info!
Oh no!
I’ve only just discovered your blog and have recently developed a crazy obsession with 40′s fashion… I just been contemplating a “fashion on a ration” idea… I love that mentality of “make do and mend” , buy quality etc etc…
More please?
Hi there – was using your Knowledge bit, and had a trip to Classic Textiles on Goldhawk Road – and indeed it is a wonderful place! But just in case you hadn’t been there recently, the council is planning to get rid of that shop (and A1 Fabrics), in fact shops from 30-52 and make them into housing blocks! The shopkeepers have got up a petition, and are asking all their customers to support…. have a look at ‘save 30-52 goldhawk road from demolition’ on Facebook for more details….. thought you might like to know….
Just stumbled across your blog from …somewhere. I love this project and the amount of thought and research you put into it. Thanks for blogging!
Have you seen Natalie Purschwitz’s MakeShift project? She has a totally different aesthetic but similar sensibilties RE consumption and disposable belongings and so on.
