Awards all round!
I’ve been shamefully behind in acknowledging it, but in the past few weeks I’ve been Kreativ Blogger’d from all directions! Fellow craft bloggers at A Homely Heroine, Naughty Little Epoch and My Happy Sewing Place have nominated me.
The award has a delightfully junior-high feel in that it requires me to list 7 random things about myself before passing it on. Well, here goes:
- I have a tattoo of the Dawn Treader on my back which I have resolved never, never to outgrow.
- I eat terrible things for breakfast. Favorites include cold Thai green curry, bagel with cream cheese and curry paste, and Cool Ranch Doritos with cheddar and apples.
- I have a degree in literary studies, but the Dragonlance novels and Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander have a permanent place on my bookshelf and in my heart.
- I’ve been a dedicated tomboy for most of my life. I bought my first lipstick at 23 and didn’t discover hot rollers until last year.
- My idea of an earthly paradise is a bottomless bowl of my best friend Chris’s pho and then some hand sewing on the couch with gin and tonics on demand and an endless movie adaptation of a Victorian novel (screenplay by Andrew Davies) on TV.
- Since moving to the UK I have learned to enjoy real ale and running, preferably in combination.
- I was a zombie extra in Dead Set.
The award also requires that I pass it on to 7 other bloggers, so here are 7 of my current favorites (with apologies for any passbacks):
- Michelle at naughty little epoch for her unique, bijou creations.
- Debi at My Happy Sewing Place for taking Fife by storm with her modern vintage creations
- A Sewn Wardrobe for fearlessly thinking big and following through.
- Enken at Whipstitch Sewing for pursuing many talents and giving me a taste of Australian summer in the middle of an English winter.
- Tilly at Tilly and the Buttons for not letting a lack of experience stop her from turning out beautiful modern vintage dresses.
- Mena at the Sew Weekly for producing a dress a week — while raising a toddler — and letting me bargain-hunt vicariously.
- Zoe at So, Zo… for inspiring the Fashion on the Ration challenge.
Many thanks to all you remarkable women!

Wow, I love the Dawn Treader tattoo! That’s still one of my favorite books.
I have no idea what the Dawn Treader is but YAY! Thanks for the award!
I love Gabaldon’s Outlander series too! (I have to admit I did stop reading after The Fiery Cross, maybe I should try again.)
Seriously… don’t bother. But I can still burn through the first three in a few days off sick!
First, thanks for the award
Second, I’m super EXCITED that you are getting your hair cut too. We must be on the same bizarre UK wavelength (we finished and posted our sewing projects at the same time and planned haircuts at the same time!) hahahaha. Fantastic! Third, that hair salon looks great, I can’t wait to hear about it. I’ll try and post a non-styled/curled photo before Sat. Fourth, you are ultracool in my book for the Voyage of the Dawn Treader tattoo! LOVE IT!
